Zine proposal
My zine’s creative direction is photography. It will be centred around the concept self-awareness. I will use pictures to experiment the idea of discovering myself through them. I will express through photography the idea of introspection, through a series of self-portraits experimenting with the naked body, thus showing myself vulnerable. A close relationship between camera and model. The message I would like to point out. . . you have to see yourself as you are, slowly remove the layers that cover you and observe what you like, what you don’t; know the feelings that motivate you or those that make you feel crushed and doubtful. Occasionally I may feel trapped in my own insecurities and negative thoughts, preventing myself from going on with my days. This is what I want to capture in my photographs.
I will not only use myself as a model, I will also photograph other people. First, I will have a dialogue with them to know them more and the battles they have had, in order to portray situations or emotions through photography.
Who’s the audience?
There’s not really an age range, but if I had to put one, it would be from 15 to undefine age, because the content of the zine is about knowing a little bit more about yourself and then understanding yourself better and that is something you can really do at any age. Since my photographs are only of women, it is easierfor women to be the best candidate for the magazine, although really all people could feel connected, since the conflict is not exclusive to women.
To achieve all this:
I will be looking at my fashion photography books and magazines to see which ones I like the most and why and which ones are the ones that project some feeling. I will also pay more attention to what I have been feeling in the last few weeks and months to project it through photography.
